Booking & site visits

Locking in a date, coming to see the property, and the dates worth knowing about.

How do we lock in our date?

Once you've landed on a date, we'll provide a booking form along with our terms and conditions and deposit details to secure it.

How many site visits do we get?

Two complimentary site visits are included — one to plan and one closer to the day for final preparations. Additional visits (including virtual) can be arranged subject to availability, and we're always available for communication in the lead-up.

Which days do you host weddings?

We host two celebrations a week. Mid-week bookings run Monday to Wednesday, with the wedding day itself on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Weekend weddings are held on a Friday or Saturday — arriving the day before and carrying the celebration into the morning after.

Do you offer mid-week rates?

Yes, we offer a mid-week rate for Tuesday and Wednesday weddings — please refer to our packages or ask us directly.

Are there busy local dates we should know about?

Yes — certain weekends are particularly busy due to local events (such as the Brigadoon Festival in early April), and October and November are typically busy every weekend. Accommodation books out well in advance, so we recommend checking availability — and considering a room block for your guests — when you're choosing a date.

The celebration

The shape of the day itself — numbers, timings and the party.

How many guests can we invite?

We are certified to host up to 120 guests in The Pavilion.

When can we access the property?

You can access the property from 2pm on the first day of your booking. Earlier access may be possible, subject to availability.

Is there a curfew?

Caoura Cliffs has a 10:00pm curfew, with all non-staying guests departing by bus at this time. To respect our development approval, outdoor areas close at 10pm and the celebration continues inside The Pavilion — so you can make every moment count.

Can we bring a band or DJ?

Absolutely — we welcome live music and have an AV technical guide we can provide your entertainment on request. Between sets, you or your DJ are welcome to play a Spotify playlist through our audio system.

Can we use the outdoor fireplace?

Absolutely — we're happy to light an outdoor fireplace for you on request. To prioritise safety we have a no-fire policy over summer (Dec–Feb) and always adhere to local fire bans year-round.

Can you host an elopement or micro-wedding?

We love the intimacy of micro-weddings and elopements. At this stage the scale of our venue is best set up for larger celebrations, but we're always happy to chat — reach out with your vision and we'll explore what's possible.

Food & drinks

Catering, the dry-hire bar and how drinks work across the property.

Do we bring our own caterer?

You're welcome to engage a caterer from our shortlist of recommended teams — they're familiar with the venue and cater to a range of budgets. We have a full commercial kitchen available for them to use.

Can we BYO alcohol?

Caoura Cliffs is a dry-hire bar, meaning we don't supply your beverages. You're encouraged to provide your own (which we can chill ahead of your wedding), or our bar service partner can source a selection for you at competitive rates.

While it's BYO, it's not self-serve — your alcohol must be served by an RSA-certified, licensed bar team. Your caterer can usually provide this, or we can recommend trusted bar service.

Are spirits or shots allowed?

Yes, within sensible limits. All alcohol is served in line with responsible service of alcohol (RSA) guidelines by a licensed team — so guests who've had too much will be cut off as standard. We're happy to accommodate things like a celebratory toast, a set cocktail hour, or a particular spirit for a special guest. Let us know the vibe you're after and we'll make it both fun and safe.

Can we set up a bar at The Cliffs for ceremony drinks?

Yes — we're happy to support a ceremony bar at The Cliffs, provided a qualified RSA staff member serves and the logistics are coordinated with your catering/beverage and hire teams (a truck-bar and trestle can be provided). The bush road back to The Pavilion is bumpy, so champagne stems stay with your drinks server at the bar — bottled drinks with straws are fine for the trip.

Accommodation & the morning after

Staying at The Homestead, where guests stay nearby, and the recovery.

How many guests can stay onsite?

The Homestead is a charming, stylishly furnished dwelling on the property that sleeps up to 12 guests, with lush lawns, a pool and a stone-floored area to dine alfresco with your onsite guests.

Where should our guests stay?

The closest cluster of accommodation is around 15 minutes away. The nearest regional hub is Bundanoon (35–45 minutes) — a glorious country town with a guesthouse that sleeps 36 and a historic hotel that sleeps 120, making it a convenient base to arrange a group bus pick-up. We have partnered accommodation with special arrangements, and partnered bus companies to bring everyone in safely.

Can we host a recovery the morning after?

You're welcome to enjoy a relaxed breakfast gathering at The Homestead for up to 20 guests the morning after your wedding. For larger recovery celebrations we recommend heading into nearby Bundanoon — the historic pub or guesthouse are both great spots.

What time is checkout?

Checkout from The Homestead is 12pm.

Is camping allowed on the property?

For the comfort of all guests and to preserve the natural beauty of Caoura Cliffs, camping isn't permitted on the property. We're happy to recommend nearby accommodation to suit your needs.

Planning, styling & logistics

Coordination, what's covered by the venue, and the practical fine print.

Do we need an on-the-day coordinator?

Yes — to ensure your day runs smoothly and stress-free, all couples engage a professional wedding coordinator. They're your go-to on the day, managing timings, liaising with suppliers and keeping everything flowing so you can be fully present. You're welcome to bring in your own, or engage one of our experienced coordinators who know the venue inside-out.

Do we need a wedding planner?

No, it's not a requirement — though we love working with wedding planners and will happily assist them with anything they need.

What's the difference between a venue manager and an on-the-day coordinator?

Both play important roles but differ in focus. The venue manager handles the operational side — setting up tables and chairs, coordinating waste, briefing venue staff, providing access to power and amenities, and managing guest flow safely around the property.

The on-the-day coordinator focuses on the running of your wedding from a planning and personal perspective — managing the timeline, cueing key moments, liaising with vendors and the MC, overseeing your styling setup, and acting as the central point of contact for all non-venue matters.

Do we need to hire a marquee or portaloos?

No. The Pavilion is an all-weather space with ample facilities for up to 120 guests, including a wheelchair-friendly bathroom — so no marquee or portaloos are required (though you're welcome to cover the terrace for extra space if the forecast turns).

Are children welcome?

Absolutely — Caoura Cliffs welcomes the whole family. Please note The Cliffs ceremony site is an open ledge with a steep drop. Our team is always onsite managing the cliff-edge during the ceremony, but the cliffs span several kilometres, so constant supervision of children is essential. We recommend a dedicated childminder or ensuring parents are across the safety considerations.

Can we bring pets?

Yes, provided you have a pet-sitter for them. As a large working property with native wildlife, cattle and horses, we allow leashed dogs for the ceremony and the start of the reception. After that, we ask that your pet's carer takes them back to The Homestead or wherever they're being looked after. We're happy to recommend great pet-sitting companies.

Are confetti or fireworks allowed?

We don't permit confetti or fireworks on the property, to protect the natural environment and minimise fire risk in the bushland setting.

Getting here & transport

Buses, parking and accessibility across the 1,100 acres.

Do we need to organise buses for our guests?

Yes — the majority of guests must arrive by bus, pre-arranged by you. This keeps the day safe, easy and stress-free (and adds to the sense of adventure).

It's a requirement of our event licence; the venue is along a dark, sometimes unsealed country road; and Caoura Cliffs spans 1,100 acres, with the ceremony site around 3km from The Pavilion. We work closely with two local bus companies and can provide a sample quote and help with arrangements.

Is there parking at the venue?

Onsite parking is very limited — 20 approved spaces, with half reserved for vendors. The carpark sits around 250m from The Pavilion to keep your photos beautifully uninterrupted, and we can provide transfers for guests who need them. Coach transport for the majority of guests must be pre-arranged by the couple.

Can some guests self-drive?

Most guests should arrive by your arranged bus. The exceptions are guests staying onsite at The Homestead, and a maximum of around 10 cars for elderly, pregnant or disabled guests, or those abstaining from alcohol.

What wheelchair access is there?

The Pavilion is entirely wheelchair-accessible, with a beautiful accessible bathroom. The Cliffs ceremony site is accessible if you drive to it, but please note it's in the bush — the ground is uneven, natural earth, and the toilet there is not wheelchair-friendly.
